Why Are There No Gnostics in Vancouver?

Somedays I lack the eloquence to describe my unbelievable frustration at the complete and utter lack of a gnostic presence here in Vancouver, the supposed best place on Earth to live (2 years in a row).

There is absolutely nothing. No churches, no meet groups, no communities, and seemingly no interest. You would think with such a culturally diverse environment, religious diversity and curiousity wouldn't be hard to find. But it seems the exact opposite is true.

I know Father Jordan is a short hop away in Victoria, but for those that understand the regional mentalities of the area, for a Vancouverite to go to the Island is like travelling to the moon (and almost as expensive!).

Oh well, I can only believe that perseverence and prayer will help me find the pocket I know is out there. It just doesn't have any web presence and therefore no easy way to find it. Maybe when I do, I can design them a website ;).

Peace

They're there.

Number one, it does not matter if you're the last Gnostic on earth. Gnosis is real and present, and the stories that comprise Gnosticism are timeless and will always reemerge. This is why we don't preach, evangelize, proselytize, or convert.

Secondly, give it time. Vancouver has a very rich vein of imagination and cultural options: most Gnostics are going to Christian or Unitarian or Buddhist congregations because they're welcomed there. But as there's been no Gn church there (well, since the 40s) people don't know it's an option.

I'll make you some posters. ;-)

We must build the infrastructure first, and the people will come if they need to. We just need to get ready to recieve them. What about the Gnostic who googled "Gnostic Vancouver" a year ago? Where is that person?

Give it time, we're picking up speed.

Patience isn't always one of my strong points. Sort of "want it now" kind of guy. Working on it, but there you have it. :)

Thank you for your words of encouragement.

Peace

try is this way. You say you are a Gnosis Christian, when what you mean is, you are a Christ. Gnosis means KNOWING. so how can you be a Christian when you KNOW a Christ. so also one can not be alone if 2 are always together. Try this... Bestill and KNOW that I AM.....YOU ARE... same....reflection...suffering..TO-GET-HER....FOR..EVER...learn to listen to our voice.. 2 voices that sound like twins=Thomas. ONE that knows one self..

December 7th, 2009.

This is for Shawn.

I know this is a very old post and hope that by now, you have met up with some Gnostics in Vancouver.

In case you haven't please contact us at: vancouver@gnosticmovement.com or call: 604-267-2262.

We're hosting a few introductory talks in December, both at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver. One is on December 10th and the other December 15th - both talks start at around 7-8pm. You may not need introductions to Gnosis, but at least you can meet fellow Gnostics.

Take care.

Hello,

This is a message for Coe in Alabama and indeed anyone who's interested.

Again, I have only just come across this thread and this information might be old news.

If you want to connect with fellow Gnostics internationally, please go to: www.gnosticawakenings.com. There's a list of centres that we have around the world as well as an online forum.

Peace.

Valerie

My wife and I live in Dothan and experience the same frustration. A meet up would be great.
